‘”With this bill we’re putting in place some common sense reforms,” the president said during signing ceremonies at the White House.’
This may be the first time I’ve agreed with Obama. Not about the CC provisions, which I think are a bad intrusion into the free market, but definitely with the liberalization of firearm carry.
The expression “Pick your battles” is cogent here. The Brady Buttholes have been trying to push for gun laws, any gun law, no matter how ineffective for so long that they have lost sight of a basic tenant of politics. That tenant is that when your argument is based on a lie, you must be willing to compromise. Good politicians are good liars, so long as they don’t forget that they are lying. The Bradys have long ago forgotten that all of their arguments are based on their dreams, and not on reality. By constantly pushing for total uncompromising bans, they have lost so much ground that I almost feel secure in my right to bear arms.
I kinda feel bad for the Credit Card companies though. They haven’t done anything to deserve this treatment. Nothing I wouldn’t do in their place, anyway.
The same credit card companies that were charging usurious rates (something that’s been a crime since Moses was literally wearing short pants) are the same ones mooching taxpayer dollars to bail themselves out. Don’t feel bad for them, they made a long series of really bad business decisions and then came to the bank of taxpayersUSA with their hands out. Cry me a river…
But yeah, good on ya BO–and too bad Brady Bunch :).
The interesting thing is that with the credit card bill we will all be paying more for credit card use. While we always subsidized bad debtors via our credit card rates, paying on time and in full kept good debtors burden to a minimum. Now apparently we will all be punished all the time for the bad debtors’ failure to pay.
Anti-gun Obama signs guns in parks; pro-gun Reagan signed the ’86 machinegun ban. Seems like it’s the Congress that makes the difference, not the President. Seems like the President signs whatever Congress sends him. There may be a lesson in that.
Sent to him by a Senate with a Democratic supermajority and a House with a Democratic majority as well. Gun rights are not a party-line issue.
Borrowing from PTerry – a lie may get halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on, but the truth has its boots on now and is kicking hard.
