Bound to happen
Four police officers shot in no-knock raid. I thought the justification for no-knock raids was so they wouldn’t get shot and so evidence couldn’t be destroyed.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

I feel a poem coming on.

If someone keeps a 105mm howitzer loaded with an anti-personnel round aimed at his front door, and ties the other end of the firing lanyard to his big toe every night, then anyone who comes through that door, with a no-knock warrant or otherwise, might find themselves leaving by that door faster than they came in. Much faster, and in more pieces too.
Most people only have a twelve gauge, but it could be set up the same way. For myself, I have two semiauto shotguns and I have two big toes. I should only be awakened very, very gently at night. It is advisable to knock first. Not too loudly either. Better yet, call and let me know you’re coming first.
You should have seen what happened one night when I got up and completely forget about the strings. What a mess! Hasn’t happened since though. Kept what was left of the door as a souvenir. Been lucky so far.

That’s a basic safety violation. Even my little girl knows “Always keep your big toe out of the loop in the string that’s tied to trigger of the shotgun pointed at the front door until you’re ready to shoot”, or as she says “Keep the toe-jam hook out of the bang string.”

I just keep eight guys, two each in four cars, at each corner of the block.

That’s a respectable response for having your door kicked in at o-dark thirty. One wonders if the fact that the door kickers were cops was even noticed under the stress of the home invasion?

Well, two of them were actually shot; the other two were shot at.
If this were the outcome of more middle-of-the-night no-knock raids there might be fewer of them.

“Well, two of them were actually shot; the other two were shot at.”
The article actually states that 4 were shot. One was hit in the face, one was hit in the foot, and the other two were struck but the rounds hit their bullet-proof vests (minor injuries, probably just severe bruising). No indication of the total number of officers there.
I agree with the sentiment that hopefully this will happen often enough that the cops will stop doing it.
Considering where this happened, it seems likely the suspect was an actual criminal (if for no other reason that someone who owns a firearm in NJ for self-defense would be considered criminal for such).
