Vipers compare to violins the way Stratocasters compare to traditional guitars. Mark Wood (taking a break from touring with TSO this year) is behind the Viper.
I don’t their version as much as the cello version by Apocalyptica (which they likely cribbed a bit, there’s a lot of similarities in the arrangement)…but they are FAR cuter!

Caleb- Anything that can be amplified can be distorted. You can play a kazoo into a mic and distort it.

There’s a bass in the recording, but not shown. I also strongly suspect there’s a guitar. But yeah, it sounds great.
Caleb; we once stuck an accoustic guitar pickup on a thumb piano and ran it into a guitar amp’s lead (overdrive) channel. It sounded awesome.
