It just goes to show you how effective an handgun ban going all the way back to 1982 has been. I even attended a gun buyback at St Sabina’s where I personally saw 2 hand guns being turned in out of a group of 5 people that were allowed at a time inside the building.
Criminals still choose to ignore Chicago’s bans. The Mayor still hasn’t figured that out and He was a States attorney before being elected mayor.
The Mayor blames gun sales in the counties surrounding Chicago, along with the ever evil gunshows.
The Mayor once advocated an Illinois ban on the sale of concealed carry holsters.
Legal Concealed Carry folks traveling through Illinois may want to be ever mindful that if they get caught with a gun not being transported “correctly”, felony charges are likely, which could result in them losing their CCW permit in their home state. Consider avoiding travel through Illinois. If possible, boycott everything in the entire state and let the businesses (and politicians) know why. Illinois is broke; Chicago is broke. They need tourism. Go somewhere else.
If past experience is any indication, there were likely 21,000 guns actually “confiscated”. Just that only one in three made it onto the inventory sheet. If you should ever feel the need to carry a gun illegally in Chicago, pick one that cops would like to keep for themselves. A couple hundred dollar bills in the same pocket would not hurt either.
Daley should try scolding people. He should stand on a street corner and wag his finger at everyone who drives by while shouting at them at the top of his lungs that they shouldn’t have any guns. That would be stupid and laughably ineffective, but it wouldn’t be any less effective than his gun ban law, which is also stupid and laughably ineffective. Hopefully the Supreme Court will inform him of that, before the jackass makes a complete fool of himself on that street corner.

That number also includes ‘Gun Buybacks’ which have a significant number of rusty pieces of junk and toy guns.

No, what he should do is lead by example. Then after the funeral they can elect another mayor.
