It’s pretty amazing what you can get away with when you carry a badge. Especially in times like this when police departments scramble for employees, all that will happen to the guy (if anything at all) is that he resigns from one department and gets rehired in another.
Next time I carjack somebody, I’m just going to yell “Police!” so they don’t shoot me…
There’s a reason that some states only allow uniformed officers and/or marked cars to perform traffic enforcement duties. Keeps the “Own Goals” to a minimum…
The reason he finally got out is the same reason he won’t be prosecuted; Maryland law requires a “reasonable expectation of privacy” for this wire-tapping law to be enforced. If he hadn’t been behaving like a mutant, he’d probably have a slam-dunk civil rights violation suit against the cop and the state.
A great many people would have shot him when he drew his gun. He would have deserved it. But Oh MY God wouldn’t that have been a sticky wicket for whoever justifiably shot the sonofabitch.

They hate us because we’re free.

Wow, this is just like the cops where I live except they are all obese…

In the first couple of seconds after the “cop” gets out of his car and draws his gun, WITHOUT saying “police” until he is at the motorcycle.
Sounds like a tricky situation. Shoot him or not? After all he doesn’t ID himself until well after pointing the weapon at you.

“wouldn’t that have been a sticky wicket”
It’d have been a sticky mess, you or your survivors washing the blood off your bike and out of your gear later.
There was a uniformed officer right behind the both of them who probably would have happily/quickly assumed a ventilation role in that case.

And besides, drawing cold on someone with a drawn, low ready pistol is not the best idea.

Man, if that had happened to me the cops would be losing thier asses in court.
