The double mag tubes look interesting but sound problematic. Also given what I’ve seen with guns like the RFB, It’ll need some strong vetting before I’d trust it.
That dual-tube magazine is going to run into shotgun capacity restrictions in several states, I think – and I bet CA, MA, and NY ban it outright fairly soon after it’s released. It might be worth it for Kel-Tec to release a single-tube version as well.
And 5 years from now, when it’s an actual product…
Sorry, but Keltec makes a lot of cool plans, and designs, and prototypes. Manufacturing and delivering, not so much. The RFB should not have taken as long as it did to deliver, and should have fewer growing pains considering the length of development. A shotgun should be easier, and, oh so want, but others can be the beta teseters this time around.
There are states with shotgun specific capacity restrictions above and beyond (also stupid) hunting limitations?
I’ll wait until I see a few positive shotgun class AARs but the concept is certainly intriguing. I like the looks. Hopefully it can hold up to the 12ga poundings.
The term “large capacity weapon” shall be a secondary designation and shall apply to a weapon in addition to its primary designation as a firearm, rifle or shotgun and shall not include: (i) any weapon that was manufactured in or prior to the year 1899; (ii) any weapon that operates by manual bolt, pump, lever or slide action…
Looks an awful lot like the Neostead shotgun from South Africa, guess we’ll find out if the pump action is “backward” like the Neostead was supposed to be.

Virginia does, but only for carrying them loaded in certain cities and counties – and the restriction doesn’t apply if you have a CHP.
§ 18.2-287.4. Carrying loaded firearms in public areas prohibited; penalty.
It shall be unlawful for any person to carry a loaded […] (b) shotgun with a magazine that will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered on or about his person on any public street, road, alley, sidewalk, public right-of-way, or in any public park or any other place of whatever nature that is open to the public in the Cities of Alexandria, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Falls Church, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, or Virginia Beach or in the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, or Prince William.
The provisions of this section shall not apply to law-enforcement officers, licensed security guards, military personnel in the performance of their lawful duties, or any person having a valid concealed handgun permit or to any person actually engaged in lawful hunting or lawful recreational shooting activities at an established shooting range or shooting contest.
It was probably a concession to those cities and counties to get statewide preemption passed, and just hasn’t been changed significantly since then.
I don’t know about other states, but I would be (pleasantly) surprised if no state has some maximum capacity law for shotguns.

Not a problem in MA (least I don’t think so):
MGL Ch. 140, Section 121:
The term “large capacity weapon” shall be a secondary designation and shall apply to a weapon in addition to its primary designation as a firearm, rifle or shotgun and shall not include: (i) any weapon that was manufactured in or prior to the year 1899; (ii) any weapon that operates by manual bolt, pump, lever or slide action…
