What I find very Strange about SOPA/PIPA is who is supporting it up on the Hill. You have Uber-Liberal Pat Leahy (DemaCommie) of Vermont in the Senate pushing for it, you have Big Business Crony Lamar Smith (Republitard) of Texas in the House, yet it seems to have come from the MPAA Head Christopher Dodd. The SAME Dodd who helped build up the Fannie and Freddie Housing Bubble along with his Buddy Barney Frank. The SAME Dodd who, just before he left and the DemaCommies lost the House, got the Dodd-Frank Consumer Bill passed, that basically is trying to restrain Capitalism. The SAME Dodd who ran away from Gooberment when it looked like his Free Mortgage from CountryWide might send him to Jail.
Now Dodd wants to keep “Media Pirates” from using the InterWeb to take away Big Hollywood’s Royalty Revenue Stream.
One would think the Liberals in the Congress would be against this Crap, yet they seem to heartily support it. Something tells me that there’s Crap in the Bills that “We have to Pass it to Find out what’s in it First” that is VERY Dangerous to the 1st Amendment.

More like an empty holster protest, I would think. It’s both temporary and visible, and unless you make money off the website you’re not losing anything substantial.
(OTOH, just because you see an empty holster on my hip it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not carrying, either.)

The point of “going dark” is to make people notice that wouldn’t normally pay attention to these things. Most people don’t spend the time on the internet that we do, so they’re oblivious until it smacks them in the face.
