Though in Obama’s case he’d be happy being “merely” a modern Euro style king. Lavish lifestyle, mandatory respect, life long reign, no responsibilities, but lots of “juice”.
Heck, this Julia story tells the tale of a person who’s entire life was influenced and pressed by the patronage and grace of her King.
Who pays the piper calls the tune, as the old saying goes.
Hope Julia never wants to do anything unapproved by the government that is funding her life. Because I doubt they will continue to pay her if she doesn’t do exactly what they want.
Well it’s not like you are doing anything to vote him out of office, Mr “I am just staying home because voting for Romney will not make any difference.”
@ Jack: I’m glad you mentioned FDR. How many of his policies are we still living with 67 years after his death? Or Johnson and his Great Society? I understand Borepatch’s reasoning, but I’m not sure I agree. Name one government agency that has been created or it’s power once expanded, ever was shrunk back down again or disbanded. I don’t know for sure what the answer will be in November, but I *WILL* be holding my nose in the voting booth.
I would trample over my grandmothers for the chance to get people like Napolitano and Holder out of office. Romney may not be much better than Obama but the people Romney appoints will be way better.
I wonder if the POTUS actually thinks that embryonic stem cell research and human cloning will let him get the replacement body parts to live and rule for 67 more years. Not sure if we have an “ego” replacement part big enough for him though.
I suspect he is assuming that his legacy of regulations, appointments and unconstitutional laws will last for a thousand years…

Yeah that troubled me a lot as well. Though I have to say the amount of mockery this bit of clumsy propaganda is getting is precious.

Not on My Watch.

Obama and his supporters do wish he were a king.

*ahem* Twenty-second Amendment.
Even someone who is voting for Obama, should (hah!) be worried about Obama president for over six decades until past 2075. He’d be a spry 114 by then.
Though maybe they’ll simply accept a good 20 years in office. That’d beat FDR.
Well Forward I suppose.

He really does want to do it to Julia.
