Interesting: Tennesseans who have committed certain nonviolent crimes will be able to have their criminal records expunged for a $350 fee under a bill expected to become law July 1.

I do not believe this for one second. There will always be some sort of record for a crime.. Same as there will be a record for a payment made to expunge the crime…

Oh, Oh, the revenue! (I swoon in anticipation) Think of all the parties who will be railroaded — er, I mean — “tried according to due process” and who will be happy (yes, HAPPY!!) to help the state close its deficits. Between this and all the money the cops are stealing on I-40, TN should be seeing some serious budget surpluses.
Nothing like organized, government-sanctioned predation to make us all glad to live in America, am I right? Take it away Lee —

Anything for a buck. But, if they have a non-violent felony conviction ‘expunged’ does that mean they can buy guns again?

If that’s an indulgence they’re undercharging what the market will bear to pay. Seems to be a paperwork and processing fee. Would anyone be happier if the taxpayers got stuck with the bill for the paperwork?
