Yes yes it is.
“Under POCA, the burden of proof lay with the box-holders. Finding evidence for wartime treks across Europe, or charting migration stories from the Partition of India and beyond, would cost many of the box-holders tens of thousands of pounds.”
In the photo captioned “Armed: Officers engaged in routine policing are carrying sub-machine guns for the first time.” neither of the weapons pictured are sub-machine guns. Sigh.
And odd that in all the cultural changes in the last few decades when it comes to guns, the antis little number of 30,000 “Gun Deaths” per year is static.
FYI, I noticed that this article (and the other linked in comments) is from 2009, 3 years ago.
Both good finds, just be informed of the date.
I wonder if things have gotten better/worse in the intervening 3 years?
@John G: Yeah, I thought that looked like a funny “submachine gun” (maybe some kind of sponge or beanbag gun?) with a bullpup rifle out of focus on the next guy in line.
As the anti-gun rhetoric and calls for more “reasonable restrictions on guns” and “it’s past time for a dialogue on gun control” heat up in the wake of the Aurora tragedy, keep this article in mind.
History has proven, repeatedly, that crime rates – especially violent crimes using guns – rise dramatically in the wake of gun grabs and bans. Just ask the UK – or residents of Chicago and DC – for the most recent examples. This is obvious proof that when guns are outlawed, criminals will still find and use them – in even greater numbers than before.
(Unfortunately, this article does blame the US “gun and gang culture” for the UK’s problems – and while I agree to some extent, the English brought this on through their total ban on handguns and most long guns, through their lax immigration standards, and by openly embracing political correctness and “Diversity” in the name of Social Justice. But the numbers here speak for themselves.).
As defenders of the Constitution and the right to own and bear arms for self-protection, hunting, and to prevent the rise of tyranny – we must use facts to counter the emotional hyperbole of our opposites. And this article serves as a good point of data to that end.

Gun bans are one thing, but this is scarier.

Notice that they turned off comments for this article.
I guess they didn’t want a bunch of Americans asking them how that gun ban thing is working out for them?

That’s a Steyr AUG in the background.

But that’s impossible right!! Isn’t the answer to take all guns away from all citizens!!!!!
