Idiot
Colorado state Rep. Joe Salazar says women don’t need a gun because what you think might be a rape may not be one. So you should wait, use a whistle and call the cops. Or click your ruby red slippers together a couple of times, it’d be as effective.

Or puke on yourself and tell them you are on your period. That’s supposed to be a sure thing when dealing with perverted power freaks.

Odd, the Rep’s statement seems eerily similar to what a rapist might say.

“If it’s a legitimate rape, the whistles, call boxes and “safe zones” have ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Looks like all those folks who lose their Magpul jobs can fit right in at the call-box plant. Economical.
I’ve been in Colorado many times. It’s a good-sized place. Going to take a lot of call boxes.

Salazar should know what rape is and I consider him an expert. After all, he’s a politician and they’ve been raping all of us for years. Both parties. We need a call box for every time a politician has a thought.

Applying the principle of charitability, I think the scenario he’s picturing is one where a woman is walking alone at night, gets the suspicion someone is following her, and shoots without identifying the target. I don’t think this is a valid reason for banning firearms; it should be made clear to firearm owners that they are responsible for their actions and that they shouldn’t shoot blindly into the dark.

Chrispy, firearms safety rules #2 and #4 would stop that from happening. Any state that requires a permit to carry a handgun would have a class covering that and the individual would or should know that.

Maybe they should just relax and enjoy it.

Or think of England…

“I’ve been in Colorado many times. It’s a good-sized place. Going to take a lot of call boxes.”
They’ll just declare the whole state a safe zone. That’ll do it.
February 19th, 2013 at 11:29 am
I believe that the strategy recommended by the experts (like Salazar) is to blow your whistle and scream “Safe Zone!” multiple times.
And if you can’t trust the experts, who can you trust, right?
February 19th, 2013 at 11:43 am
So Salazar thinks that some rapes are legitimate and some are not?
February 19th, 2013 at 11:44 am
“Any state that requires a permit to carry a handgun would have a class covering that and the individual would or should know that.”
That’s just not true. Well maybe it is if taken literally — I sure “somebody” offers such a class. But it seems to imply that said class is required to get said permit and that is not true. E.g., Washington State does not require any classes or tests of any variety — just “prove” that you are not a “prohibited” person and they’ll mail you the “permit.”

Someone ask him if men who fear being raped should be able to have guns.
February 19th, 2013 at 2:32 pm
TigerStripe, What if the woman is a police officer from Southern California? She gets a suspicion and starts shooting without identifying?
February 19th, 2013 at 2:37 pm
The solution is simple.
A woman who fears rape should
a. blow her whistle,
b. scream “Stay away from me, you penis-holder you!”
c. then rush to the nearest call box to call the Fembots.
The Fembots upon arriving with armed police escorts will assess the situation and rush the woman to an Obamacare facility for a free abortion and birth control refill.

Interesting.
I will, sadly, not hold my breath until the Usual Suspects pile on this guy for “legitimizing rape” or “supporting rape culture” or “undermining women’s autonomy” or whatever the accusation would be if his party started with an R.
(He’d be the same idiot in both cases, but oddly only one ever gets plastered all over my Facebook feed.)

bobr, I sit corrected.

I’m going to start calling that politician’s nonsense compulsive passivity disorder. Paraphrased: “all manner of evil–to include your murder–is preferable to even the barest encouragement toward permitting citizens to go armed.”
RIP: Raped and murdered, but it’s OK–she did NOT have a gun.
February 19th, 2013 at 4:31 pm
This is the same guy who wants to keep Magpul in Colorado but not allow them to sell their mags here.
February 19th, 2013 at 4:40 pm
Updating, he has backed off. Well, sort-of. He heard the criticism “You are saying women are too stupid to be allowed to have firearms” and apologised for giving that impression.
Bah.

It seems to me that this Colorado State Rep is an accomplice to rapists. This is evil.

Advice to all citizens living in Colorado:
Do whatever it takes-ANYTHING IT TAKES-to remove this bloody minded sack of poison from office. Permanently.
Any sick twisted freak who wants to make it easier for a rapist to get away with the crime is a rapist himself – in thought if not deed.
No sane man or woman needs permission to put down a rabid dog. This “representative” is every bit as much of a threat. Period.
February 19th, 2013 at 6:39 pm
I just saw his comments on a news feed. I think a lot of you missed the point: he definitely asserted that virtually ALL gun owners (ESPECIALLY women) are NOT smart enough to determine when they are about to be assaulted and/or raped.
In other words us knuckle draggers are just too stoopid to be trusted with guns. More projection on their part – they know they don’t have the discriminatory skills to determine when they are in jeopardy so ‘obviously’ we can’t either.

An apology because he is getting criticism doesn’t mean anything to me. His first statement is what he really feels, the one he said without considering what is politically correct.
Unfortunately he doesn’t represent me so I can’t have the pleasure of voting for someone else.
They need to stop confusing law abiding citizens with law enforcement. Law abiding citizens can tell if someone is a woman or a man, and if he is black or white, whether someone is there to help hurt you. Something law enforcement has trouble with evidently (given the last couple weeks).
