My mother loves her .38 snubbie and shoots it more accurately than any other handguns. That said, it’s her choice after shooting other things. I still bring one out when helping ladies and gentlemen pick an appropriate gun, but most (both men and women) don’t like them much, and they’re not the easiest guns for beginners to learn with.
When I took three female classmates out to teach them to shoot back during school, their favorite was actually the Bersa .380 CC, even with its rudimentary sights, due to trigger pull (light) and recoil (less than the other offerings). Didn’t have much ammo for it, though, so the next favorite was the “You suck and we Hate You” USP .45 with its smooth recoil, even though it was too large for their hands.
