You don’t want to go to court having used a 5.7×28. It’s a nice round but they’ll crucify you. It looks scary, some variants are controlled due to armor piercing, etc.
.40 has the benefit of being the cop round so it’s hard for them to demonize it if you use it in self defense.
Of course, none of that matters in the instant but it becomes real important 10 seconds later.
I assume the “sacred cow” is 357 mag. If you go the small revolver route I don’t see much difference between it and 38 +p. I would feel well armed with either.
Could it be that the sacred cow is any round Caleb deems unfit for the “list”? Sacred cow is nothing more than perspective.
For instance the only 9mm’s I like are Steyr L9A1’s and that is only because they come in no other caliber. I would buy a L357A1 in hot minute. My wet dream would be a Steyr L10A1!!!
I have had a number of people ask me what caliber was best over the years. And my answer has always been that it doesn’t much matter if you can place your shots. The pistol has to function every time and it should fit your hand naturally, those are the essentials. That said, I personally favor a 16 inch naval rifle for social engagements.
I like most Calibers and am not terribly particularly concerned about which one I carry, because I feel good about my ability to neutralize most threats.
I carry a 38 special (7 round Taurus) in my pants pocket pretty much all the time and a Glock of some sort (10mm, 40 S & W, or 357 Sig) in my car.
Picking favorite calibers in guns is like picking which females you find attractive – blondes, brunettes and redheads.

Cartridges are easy to carry concealed.
Carrying around a gun to shoot them oujt of is a bit of a bother, though.

What caliber for Sacred Cow?

9mm is #1 but no 5.7x28mm? It’s like this Caleb fellow has never used a gun.

No 9mm Largo? What kind of list is this?

Still looking for a IWB for my c96 Bolo so I can add 7.63×25 mauser to the list.

I think the best caliber Caleb listed is the one a person has the most confidence in and shoots the best.
It’s no big deal. Choose the caliber you like and shoot best and put the lead projectile where you aim it.
It’s all good.

“What caliber for a Scared Cow?”
Excalibur, maybe?

Man, a lot of Caleb’s content is lame.
Like, transparently.

Thank God we’re over that .22lr craze.

Mr Stone, have you ever won the Internets before?
The unique thing about the Mark 7 is, reloading involves silk. And 78 close friends. Also, they print a little.

Like I said, I like most of them.

If it’s not muzzle loaded .36, it’s not Keeping Things Real.
