#6 _ I don’t believe that is an accurate restatement of Nick Leghorn’s position. I read his work as much as I read Vuurwapenblog and this site.
If I had to bet, it would be more like “handguns are a little more practical in home defense because you can use them one-handed when you have to dial 911 or open a door.” Something like that. Nick more than likely covered himself with a “use the gun that you have the most practice with and are comfortable using.”
“A cop once told me that if you shoot someone in your yard, you should drag them inside before you call the cops. He knows more than you, because he is a cop.”
I then ask, “Did your cop friend explain the laws on tampering with evidence and perjury? “
Right you are divemedic; whereas self-defense is a long drawn out trial that the prosecutor might lose, evidence tampering and perjury is an easy conviction.
I never understood the “you have to put a long gun down to do anything useful” argument.
Really?
A. I have a sling. Not an operator style single point actually intended for use with SMGs and other short guns by assulat teams during dynamic entries, but a decent two point sling. When I let go of it, tehrifle stays pretty much the same place as when I’m holding it in a low shouldered ready.
B. I don’t use a 10 lbs battle rifle for home defense. I can easily hold my carbine safely and controllably one handed for the period of time I need do do something like open a door, dial a phone, etc.
