Good for Christie
The anti-gun republican governor of New Jersey, in a case of either doing the right thing or pandering, has pardoned Shaneen Allen:
Governor Chris Christie pardoned a Philadelphia woman arrested in October 2013 for bringing into New Jersey a gun she was licensed to carry in her home state.
She made the mistake of traveling outside America.

Why does it take so long to do the right thing?

Yup; it’s pandering, but we’ll take it in this case. If it were about doing the right thing he’d have pardoned her the minute he heard about it.
A year and half is a long time to wait for some teeny little bit of justice, and you know what they say about justice delayed.
Now she should sue. Allen?

This is totally BS.
How many other people are in jail in New Jersey for similar problems who didn’t make the news so they’re in jail?
It’s the political equivalent of throwing fish at sea lions to get them to clap and toot their squeezey bulbs.
I’m sick of getting fish thrown at me and I ain’t clapping my fins.
Since he admits it’s ridiculous this time, get to work on changing it so something so stupid won’t happen again.
But no, it’s a common-sense gun law so…… shut up prole.

Veeshir, every lawyer for everyone jailed for this should be ginning up the appeal paperwork now, as in “why does she get a break for the same thing my client is (has been) jailed for.”
And who’s picking up the tab for her legal fees? (The state of NJ I hope.)

Pandering.
It’s what RINO do.

My prior edit of Lyle’s prior comment:
Pretending to contend.
That gasbag has all the conservative cred of a Holder and all the veracity of a Clinton (pick one).

I’d have been impressed if he’d commuted it. As it is, feh. I’ll assume in PA she’ll have a hard time getting her permit back.

Glenn: Unless NJ does it differently, a pardon is better than commuting it. A pardon restores all civil rights (including 2A rights, if I understand correctly).
Commuting the sentence would only eliminate whatever specific penalties the Governor chooses to remove, such as jail time and fines, but she would still be prohibited from voting, holding office, or owning firearms.
To those asking why it took so long: She had to request a pardon before he could grant it, and she had to be convicted before she could request it.
I do, however, agree that it was pure pandering. He only granted the pardon because it would have made for bad press with Republican presidential voters if he had denied it.

Great! I heard the same prosecutor gave Ray Rice a break, but not her! Thanks Governor!

Wow, wonder if he is running for Prez?
