Post Paris

Combined with ISIS announcing it will target cities in the US, I’ll be putting the AR back in the truck.

I suspect if you intervene in a Jihadi attack, you may be charged with a hate crime. But I am with you. Doing the same.

  2. Shootin' Buddy Says:

Because Tennessee is a high priority target? ISIL hates white suits and string ties?

    Don’t see it.

  3. mikee Says:

There are some parts of East St. Louis I’d suggest they avoid.

  4. wizardpc Says:

    Shootin’ Buddy:

Yeah, it’s not like Chattanooga just hd an attack a couple months ago or anything like that.

  5. Adam Says:

If you can make it to your car wouldn’t it be best to then leave.

  6. HL Says:

Shootin’ Buddy, you are thinking of Georgia, or maybe KFC.

Wizardpc beat me to it. See Chattanooga. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/20/us/tennessee-naval-reserve-shooting/

It also turns out some of the Syrian Refugees were settled in TN.

    http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/10/21/us/where-syrian-refugees-are-in-the-united-states.html

Too, Oak Ridge National Lab is just down the road, Y-12. Wouldn’t be a bad symbolic target what with the role it played in the Manhattan Project.

  7. Ron W Says:

@Shootin’ Buddy, I live just north of Nashville, Tennessee which happens to have one of the largest concentrations of Islamic immigrants and “resettlements” in the U.S. Of course, this all started after the Gulf War in the early nineties. I worked in Nashville in healthcare and never saw Midfle Eastern Muslims until then which increased greatly. I doubt that our supposed conservative governor will do like some others and refuse this additional large influx of Islam. We have had at least four straight traitorous administrations which have allowed and facilitated the very group in which jihadists find “aid and comfort” to enter and stay. And this extends down through to governors and mayors who no longer have allegiance to and prefer their own people! In the Bible, this wickedness is called “without natural affection”.

  8. Chas Says:

With Obama importing 200,000 Syrians in the next 2 years, you might need something belt-fed and full-auto.

  9. DADvocate Says:

My son’s best friend is in the National Guard. In drills this past weekend they were told to get a gun (pistol) and keep it with them. Also, that they believed terrorists would be targeting smaller cities, meaning not New York or LA and such. Don’t know if this is an official line, but somebody in the military is similarly concerned as you are.

  10. MAJMike Says:

Don’t know why some are making fun of being prepared for self-defense. Churches are soft targets for a jihadi wanting to make a splash. I carry (legally) to my church services, Sunday school, and Bible study. I carry when at a movie or a restaurant. There’s several firearms loaded and ready in various locations in my house. Just seems prudent.

  11. Ron W Says:

@MAJMike, not only prudent, but righteous defense of yourself and others.

  12. skas Says:

I’m with Adam…if you can get back to your vehicle, you’re probably able to GTFO in any situation like this. Not going to hurt having the AR in the truck if they’re going to stop your vehicle from leaving, but I think the pistol on the body is more important to have in these situations.

  13. Huck Says:

I’m with Uncle. While I don’t have a AR, I do have my .30-30 Marlin to carry in the truck and that will do.

  14. aerodawg Says:

I wish there wasn’t the possibility I have to go on a mil base every day. I’d pack mine if that wasn’t the case…

  15. Ron W Says:

@Huck, some say it’s better to have a more conventional rifle for your vehicle ( like a lever action) so as to assuage any reactionary LEO contact. Tennessee Legislature made vehicle carry of any legal loaded long gun legal several years ago. I think the law specifies that a round not be chambered unless self defense necessitates.

  16. Farm.Dad Says:

You took it out of the truck ?? Why would you even do that ?

  17. Huck Says:

Ron, I have lever rifles simply because I like lever rifles over any other type. I also have a Marlin 1895G in .45-70 but I don’t see the need for artillery in self defense when a rifle (.30-30) will do. 🙂

  18. Ron W Says:

Sounds great, Huck. I grew up with Lucas McCain as one of my heroes. I do think a lever action .30-30 will do nicely for any two-legged vermin. Give’em what they need, instead of what they want.

  19. Crawler Says:

Since I already carry a spare tire, jack, fire extinguisher, road reflectors, hand tools, air tank, spare hoses, oil, liability insurance, etc…in my truck tool box for breakdown emergencies, why shouldn’t I legally stow a long arm and some extra mags for “other” emergencies, too?

But I have to admit there’s just something about wearing an old fitted broken-in hat, a scrimshaw Bolo tie and concealing a P2000sk that’s just downright appealing to me.

But a white suit? Nah…not my style.

  20. Deaf Smith Says:

“I’ll be putting the AR back in the truck.”

    Mine never left.

  21. JK Brown Says:

Well, the head of INTERPOL broached armed citizens today.

“Ask yourself: If that was Denver, Col., if that was Texas, would those guys have been able to spend hours, days, shooting people randomly?” Noble said, referring to states with pro-gun traditions. “What I’m saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, ‘Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?’ This is something that has to be discussed.”

“For me it’s a profound question,” he continued. “People are quick to say ‘gun control, people shouldn’t be armed,’ etc., etc. I think they have to ask themselves: ‘Where would you have wanted to be? In a city where there was gun control and no citizens armed if you’re in a Westgate mall, or in a place like Denver or Texas?’”

  22. JTC Says:

Re: the dipweed who regularly fails miserably at snark attempts in spite of being the regular victim of it:

Immigrant tangoes target Podunk towns because they’re scared to infringe hoosier metropolis turf already terrorized at will by the black muzbro thug gangs.

  23. old 1811 Says:

I’m with Huck and Adam. Suppose there’s an attack at a mall while you’re there buying your undies, and you get to your truck gun. The police call goes, “Mass shooting at the mall, males with rifles.” The cops roll up, and there’s a male with a rifle. Not only a rifle, but a semiauto assault-looking rifle. That person is you. What are the cops going to do?
If my family was safe, I’d be very hesitant to go from the pistol inside the mall (defense) to the rifle outside the mall (offense).
But just in case, I’d keep a lever-action, a bolt-action, or a Mini in my trunk. You’ll look less like a bad guy.

  24. HL Says:

I don’t think Unc is suggesting he’d sling his AR, don his counter-insurgent balaclava and go all “Blart” on them in the mall.

Who the hell knows what could happen? A Greyhound bus full of derpas could deploy and surround the speed shop where you are having your windows tinted and your fart can installed.

If you have to get on the roof top with the Korean Store Owners, it’d be nice to have something that fits the part.

Yes, if you can get away, you get away…but there is nothing wrong with being prepared. Shit, what if your truck suffers a breakdown in Dearborn?

  25. Robert Says:

Wish I could, but having to drop the youngun off at school on the way to work prevents it.

  26. Ron W Says:

Robert, officialdom has a paranoia of you instead of a rational fear of the mass murdering criminal or terrorist peeps. Incredible!

  27. KM Says:

You have to ask yourself, ‘Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism?’

It’s not “more necessary” now, IMHO since it was NEVER “less necessary”.
Millions of Americans will continue to arm themselves every day just like they did before radical fuckwits made the news.

  28. Mr Evilwrench Says:

Has anyone seen the early signs of another buying frenzy yet, or should we give it a couple of weeks?

  29. Sigivald Says:

Too, Oak Ridge National Lab is just down the road, Y-12. Wouldn’t be a bad symbolic target what with the role it played in the Manhattan Project.

Maybe if ISIS were Japanese Nationalists that would make sense.

    But they’re not.

They don’t like the US’s alleged [in their eyes, true] “anti-Muslim” actions in the Middle East.

They also don’t like “corrupt” Western culture.

(Note in Paris – fancy restaurant, musical venue [music is a sin!] and soccer [sports distract from God!].

No “strategic” attacks, no attacks on monuments or symbols.)

ISIS wants to attack Westerners, not symbols of things that have nothing much to do with their wacko grievances.

  30. Shootin' Buddy Says:

“Re: the dipweed who regularly fails miserably at snark attempts in spite of being the regular victim of it:

Immigrant tangoes target Podunk towns because they’re scared to infringe hoosier metropolis turf already terrorized at will by the black muzbro thug gangs.”

Really? You went racial? You understand that you are playing into the hands of the anti-gunners by dragging that racial crap into this, right?

Look, ISIS is not going to attack Tennessee, of all places, before they attack NYC, L.A., Chicago, D.C., inter alia. There’s nothing there in TN to attack that is comparable in culture as in the big cities.

By all means, carry your guns, including shoulder arms, but ISIS certainly has nothing to do with your rationale.

  31. Shootin' Buddy Says:

    “Shootin’ Buddy:

Yeah, it’s not like Chattanooga just hd an attack a couple months ago or anything like that.”

That wasn’t ISIS. It was a domestic loon.

  32. Old 1811 Says:

Some time ago I saw a list purported to be AQ’s targeting agenda, in order. I don’t know its provenance, but it makes sense, and since it was on the Internet, it has to be true, right?
Here it is, allegedly in order of importance (with my comments in parentheses):
    1. The U.S. military. (Domestic military bases are gun-free zones.)
    2. New York City. (The single largest gun-free zone in the United States.)
    3. Transportation. (Airports, Amtrak trains, and many municipal bus/train/subway systems are gun-free zones.)
    4. Washington, DC. (Yep, a gun-free zone, although it’s crawling with law-enforcement.)
    5. Mass gatherings. (If they’re in an enclosed space like a stadium, they’re probably gun-free zones; if open-air, maybe and maybe not.)
Of course, ISIS isn’t AQ, but they have the same basic goals, but it’s something to keep in mind.

  33. HL Says:

That wasn’t ISIS. It was a domestic loon.

Ok Obama, and Ft Hood was workplace violence.

  34. JTC Says:

    “Really? You went racial?”

    You truly are clueless, ain’tcha?

While radical muslims whose lone raison d’etre is to hate and kill all who are not them define racism, the murderous muzbro thugs who emulate them by adopting their names and hatred of all who are not white are their domestic brethren, aided and abetted by the self-loathing glitterati and by the clueless who are desperate to be seen as broadminded and enlightened, and who say shit like this:

    “…white suits and string ties”

The racism you search for and decry is right in front of you, every morning in the mirror. Clueless.

  35. Shootin' Buddy Says:

“Ok Obama, and Ft Hood was workplace violence.”

The attack on Chattanooga by Abdulazeez had absolutely no ties to ISIS.

“The racism you search for and decry is right in front of you, every morning in the mirror.”

Lot of projection there, dude. Look, it is not racist to say that the threat of ISIS attack in Jerkwater, Tennessee is zero as there is nothing there that ISIS is interested in attacking. And it is not racist to say something witty about the traditional Tennessee dress of white suits and string ties. It’s the Internet. Lighten up, Francis.

  36. JTC Says:

Not real clear on the whole witty/shitty racist/bigot concept are we, bro?

On a related note, realtors report a surge in inquiries on the Jerkwater, TN shotgun shack market…

  37. HL Says:

No one here ever said Chattanooga was linked to ISIS, so not sure what you think you proved. The Chattanooga shooting shows that Sudden Jihad Syndrom can strike anywhere, including TN.

  38. Shootin' Buddy Says:

The whole impetus behind putting guns in trucks is ISIS. ISIS may attack NYC or D.C.; ISIS will not attack TN. To use ISIS as a basis to exercise a constitutional right is to play into the proclaimed motives of unreasonable fear that the antis claim we have.

  39. HL Says:

    ISIS will not attack TN

So we have your word on that? I suppose we should all relax so we don’t prove the antis right, or something.

  40. JTC Says:

So, what’s the diff between a yankee and a muzzie?

Nothing. Neither have a clue of the danger of a Vol.
