Second Amendment Foundation suing for parents’ rights
The Second Amendment Foundation today filed a lawsuit against the State of Illinois on behalf of two foster parents, alleging deprivation of civil rights under color of law.
The lawsuit is joined by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) on behalf of Kenneth and Colleen Schults in U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Named as a defendant in the case is George H. Sheldon, in his official capacity as director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS).
The complaint contends that Mr. and Mrs. Schults have been denied their rights because IDCFS policy substantially prohibits foster parents, and those who would like to be foster parents, from possessing firearms for the purpose of self-defense. This violates their constitutional rights under the Second Amendment.
I’d like to see more suits targeting deprivation of civil rights under color of law.

Since the Second Amendment is a universal right, for all Americans, how can these petty bureaucrats even begin to imagine that they can take it away with their little rules?
I have always wanted it to be that violation of the Second Amendment should be a criminal offense. Why is the violation of the most basic law of our land not a crime? A parking ticket carries more consequences. That is absurd, and it must change.

It is a Federal crime. See 18 USC 241 and 18 USC 242.
It’s just not enforced when the 2nd Amendment is involved.
I just wonder what the statute of limitations is and if Feinstein, Boxer, and Schumer will live long enough to make it to their trials.

Only problem is, it isn’t a civil right–it’s just treated that way in most jurisdictions. Other than that, good on them.

Those child services departments are a major weapon in the left’s assault on the family. It is what they were created to accomplish, the destruction of the family unit. The only thing they have not done, yet, is to set up direct group housing of all the children they steal. Give it time, I’m sure it’s in the works.
