Color me skeptical, but I wouldn’t believe 2 million people worldwide have been killed by freak accidents involving umbrella accessories in the entire HISTORY of the umbrella.

Um, WHAAAAAAT? Freak accident kills 2 million? What? As that underappreciated poet Ton Loc used to say; “something ain’t stirring the Kool-Aid”.
Now, if said object has a roof type thing to keep the rain out of the stand, then maybe it’s this aerodynamically designed roof thing that catches the wind in a t-storm. Anybody been to china, seen this thing if it exists? And why would they continue to use it? the Chinese civilization has been around for thousands of years and, you don’t get to 1.5 billion by dying off from umbrella stands.

There are millions of things that can kill you. If God wants you alive none of them can touch you, but If it’s your time to go it takes only one.

Completely anecdotal, but a co-worker was vacationing in Florida earlier this year. His wife was struck by a large umbrella that broke loose in the wind. She was hospitalized for a couple of weeks with severe injuries. I’d never heard of or thought about them as dangerous, but the larger ones (beach or restaurant umbrellas) have substantial weight and a pretty huge sail for propulsion.

I find that that 2 million number hard to believe.
BTW, did you know that bananas are really fish that adapted to life on land?
