The times (and beliefs) are changing
I don’t really disagree with Sebastian’s take on anything here.
And leaving aside the political aspect, I just think how much I’ve changed my mind on carry guns and choices over the last several years.

The progressive mistake is the belief that changing our opinions & making different choices can have any effect on the opinions & choices of others.
The behavior of irresponsible, reckless people defines them.

I just don’t have the energy to worry about extraneous things now, that I !Ight have in my 20s or 30s. Sometimes it takes all my energy to get myself to work, home again, watch an hour of TV or read a book, go to bed and do it all again. If it doesn’t affect daily life, I’m not too likely to care about it, these days.

There’s a quote I’ve seen which says, “tyranny is more organized then freedom”. Free people, who especially appreciate effecting their own self defense, mostly leave others alone. But elitists and authoritarians are more prone to gaining the organized levers of power by which they can impose their beliefs on others. A big part of that mindset is anti-freedom, anti-gun and citizen disarmament to be done by their agents wielding guns, of course.
