I agree with the video, it is 2017 and all modern pistol designs should never fire upon dropping (at any angle ).
SIG has announced a “voluntary upgrade” with free shipping both ways. Because in their mind, nothing is wrong with their pistol. From their website FAQ:
Is my P320 safe in its current configuration?
Yes. The P320 meets and exceeds all US safety standards. However, mechanical safeties are designed to augment, not replace safe handling practices. Careless and improper handling of any firearm can result in an unintentional discharge.
So basically, if you drop your P320 and get shot, it’s your fault.
I would never purchase a P320 without the paper work showing the upgrade has been performed.

There’s details out there concerning the upgrade and it’s readily apparent when it’s been done. Trigger pack has extra components….

I do not know if this is a one off fluke?
I want the testing standards updated. I also hope that all manufacturers quickly start testing their existing products using non standard angles, if they haven’t already done so.
I am glad this problem was discovered without someone being shot by the dropped gun.

aerodawg, from the SIG website:
How will I know if the P320 has the upgraded trigger system without disassembling?
The most obvious external difference is the lightweight trigger. It has a thinner profile than the standard curved trigger. The other changes are minimal and would likely not be noticed.
Looks like you will have to know the difference between the standard trigger and the new slim trigger. Without the two side by side, you’ll just have to take a guess at it.

I purchased the Sig 320S (suppressor ready) a few months ago, but I haven’t attached the can or shot it yet.
I’m going to err on the safe side and send it back.

Jim, yeah thats the main external difference and you will have to know a bit. Internally though there’s an extra striker block assembly on the trigger pack that’s pretty obvious….
