The Trumpening
Donald Trump says hes open to Dianne Feinsteins assault weapons age limit or even a ban
Maybe the NRA shouldn’t have gone all in on Trump?

If he does, he’s lost his base for 2020.

Do you really not see the disconnect between this post and the prior NRA one? Who went all in on whom, hmmm?
January 14th, 2019 at 6:49 pm
You’ve convinced me. They should have backed Hillary.
If I’m going to take you seriously after the whole “boot Nuge” thing, you’re going to at least act like you learned something.

And another year-old story. But that’s good, lets us see exactly what actually happened at the Trump level on guns in that year?

Thanks for RE-posting a year old nothing burger. Worry less about what President Trump SAYS and more about what he DOES.

The NRA is anti 2A.
Trumps only concern is Trump. He only wanted to president because he was board with his other toys.

McClatchy is the same outfit peddling fake anti-trump news:
https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/01/mcclatchy-mania.php
The media is desperate to separate Trump from his base. After 30 days of a shutdown by law he can start firing .gov employees as part of a financial restructuring which is otherwise impossible thanks to work rules. The left is TERRIFIED of this chance to gut the resistance and deadwood in the Civil Service and wants the shutdown over before this can happen. But at the same time they don’t want to give in on the wall because that would be the end of their demographic engineering schemes.

Old news. If I remember correctly he said she should introduce it. Not that he would sign it. I think he was banking on Feinstein being stupid and it hurting their election prospects.

Trump says a lot of things. The key is to watch what he actually does.
He throws out positions and sound bites like confetti and causes confusion and angst on the other side- then comes in with a reasonable offer. It’s his modus operandi.
Wait and see.

“You’ve convinced me. They should have backed Hillary.”
Uh … that’s not what “all-in on Trump” means, though?
Endorsing him over her in the 2016 election was perfectly reasonable and is not what Unc’s talking about.
The post-election “we support President Trump!!” stuff in the mailers was not limited to gun issues, and it was an off tone and it really annoyed me, as a Life Member.
(Because I am not on Team Trump, though I am also not on Team Trump Derangement, either.)
The NRA should stick to gun rights and gun issues, and treat the general Culture Wars as anathema.

They may be anathema to all of us, but the general Culture Wars are more about and wrapped up with gun rights than any other issue.
How exactly is the largest and most successful advocacy organization in the country -notice I didn’t say gun advocacy- gonna ignore that?
There are no single issues.

In the culture wars, Trump is the enemy. He is an immoral creep.
January 17th, 2019 at 3:48 pm
Creep has some validity, immoral is more a question of perspective but I won’t totally disagree with that.
I do think that anyone who proclaims him the enemy is saying more about themselves than him though, especially in the context of what was termed by Sigivald above as “General Culture Wars” and politics of the NRA, which contrary to his view I submitted was and is inextricable from 2A and other Constitutional rights and freedoms.
More specifics would be needed to conclude whether the enemy of Trump is the enemy of me or not. I hope not; I cannot imagine anyone here allying with those who absolutely are our enemies, sworn to our disarmament and destruction.
