You asked me: “Why do all cities have a radio station entitled The X?” It’s because radio Program Directors “share” successful ideas instead of coming up with new, original ones. So, almost every town has an “X”…and probably a “Bee”, a “Kiss”, a “Lite”, and so on. WIVK is a rarity – a station that as far as I know has a one-of-a-kind identity. Somebody there one day noticed that the station’s “call letters”, when read as a “word” sounded a little like the noise a frog makes. So they came up with the mascot, “Wivick the Frog”.
