Torture in the drug war
Not blogged about it because it infuriates me. But apparently some Campbell County deputies tortured some drug dealer and it was caught on tape. I haven’t listened to it as I can’t really stand to hear that crap. I perused the transcripts and it’s quite hideous. Blogs covering the issue are AC, gunner, Blake, and Brittney.

Yea, I think I head that before, it’s from July 8, 2004. I just did a search:
http://www.truthinjustice.org/TN-torture.htm
“Two more former Campbell County sheriff’s officers were sentenced to prison Wednesday for the beating and torture of a suspected drug dealer.
David Webber, 40, was sentenced to 57 months and Samuel Franklin, 42, received 54 months for the assault last July on Lester Eugene Siler.”

“I beg this court not to take me from my son,” Monday pleaded, referring to his 5-year-old.
Monday faced a minimum seven-year prison term for pointing a gun at Siler and threatening to shoot him during the attack. But Atchley had recommended that Varlan chop a year off that sentence because Monday has given federal authorities undisclosed information. “
I did not know it happened in Knoxville, TN. Is this the first you’ve heard of it? Is Sheriff Ron McClellan the chief law enforcement guy, or is there a separate police force too? Do you know when he’s up for re-election?

sorry, AP news headlined the story from Knoxville.
Campbell County, Tennessee is actually in the northeast part of the state, near the border with Kentucky:

Tam has the right idea. The real questions are: is it strange how these guys happened to be together in one spot? If not then is this sort of thing happening elswhere unreported? My answers are no and hell yeah!
The first requirement to be a good cop is having almost no desire to be a cop.
