Dude, free training
Or why it’s cool to be a gun blogger!
ParaUSA is having a contest! All the bloggers who attended the Second Amendment Blog Bash are eligible to win a weekend training session at Blackwater with Todd Jarrett (who can be seen in action here).
The contest is a popularity contest with the ten gun bloggers who get the most votes the winner. And if you vote, your name is entered into the contest as well and one blog reader will get to go with us! And the event will be filmed for Michael Bane’s show!
So, go here and vote for your favorite gun blogger.
And, for the record, yes I want to see Todd Jarrett blow up a car by shooting at it.
Go vote.
And thanks to ParaUSA and Michael Bane for putting this together.

Setting aside the ‘gee this is cool’ factor for a momment, is this really a good idea? Police Militarization is a cancer that’s destroying our country’s law enforcement and it’s a shame to see all the gunbloggers hyping this.

We aren’t hyping Blackwater (which isn’t just a police training organization) we are hyping Para. Blackwater’s contribution is merely the use of the facility.
Para isn’t a gun that I have spent any signficant trigger time with. I’m an STI guy. But I’m willing to spend a weekend becoming familar with their product(s) and give them a fair shake in my review(s). This is Para’s experiment with alternate media advertising. It’s all open and above board so our biases should be plain for all to see and take into consideration. I don’t really see a downside to this for anyone.
Am I missing something?

Blackwater’s the police?
I’m confused. I thought they were mostly military contractors.

They train SWAT teams. But I don’t think they do any actual U.S. domestic police work.
I suspect Stormy Dragon is confused.

Blackwater provides training for many US police departments, both federal and non, including many with horrible civil rights records like Atlanta and Chicago. They’re basically the mall-ninja factory.

But… but…. I want to be an elite team fighter!
