Ammo For Sale

One got through

Somehow, we have one in East Tennessee. Who fell asleep at the switch?

A letter to the editor from one Jim Winston:

According to patrons at these shows, the AK-47 carbine rifle brings up to $1,600. These type weapons serve no purpose in a society with a professional army and local police departments. Fully automatic carbines and pistols are not sporting weapons. The primary use of these weapons is superior fire power over the police and army.

And there are no fully automatic anything for sale at these gun shows for $1,600. It’s OK. I can see how you’d be confused since the press lies to you about assault weapons. Continuing:

Too often, these weapons fall into the hands of thugs, the mentally ill or rural terrorist types. We are guaranteed the right to own our pistols and rifles by our Constitution. But it is out of control now.

I guess the only bleeding hearts are the innocent victims left lying at the crime scene.

Our legislators should avoid lobbyists of these gun profiteers and stand up for the police and all innocent victims murdered with these weapons.

Ok, then.

Gack. It’s like banging your head against the wall.
    This comment takes the cake:

“There is an entire industry that is making money by exploiting the fears of (mostly) angry white men. The same marketing makes folks believe they’ll be sexier or more desirable if they wear the ‘right’ cologne.”

Because of course no one would buy anything without some big corporation marketing to them. According to these people, we have no free will.

I guess the big gun corporations have a time machine and forced me to buy two so called assault weapons before Obama was even elected president(I saw what was coming). They have no concept of free will and individual action. It is an absoultely alien concept to them.

  2. Murdoc Says:

Laying the blame at pandering to “(mostly) angry white men” is apparently okay.

How about we all talk about the skin color of a disproportionate percentage of gun crime perps and victims?

    Oooh. Can’t do that.

  3. Murdoc Says:

Incidentally, which way to the gun shows with $1600 select fire assault rifles? I hear they don’t do background checks at those things, too.

  4. Canthros Says:

I’m trying to figure out if my AR makes me a “thug” or just “mentally ill”. I live in an apartment, so I figure “rural terrorist” is out.

  5. Canthros Says:

And the ‘rural terrorist’ thing is rather revealing all on its own. I guess, if you never go places without parking meters, it’s all banjo-playing rednecks and paranoid militia members outside the city limits.

  6. mike w. Says:

I forgot the part of the 2nd Amendment that mentioned “sporting weapons”…..

  7. Paul B Says:

Does it get any better than this? I’ve even got Big O supporters at work wondering where the wheels came of the wagon.

Get the kit and bury a SKS in the garden. You will need it soon.

  8. _Jon Says:

Yeah, ’cause “gun control” (e.g. ‘bans’) have worked out so well for England and Africa….

  9. SPQR Says:

Notice how fundamental lying is to the gun grabbers.

  10. ATLien Says:

“The primary use of these weapons is superior fire power over the police and army”

I see this as a feature, not a bug.

  11. mariner Says:

I want one of those carbine rifles.

  12. Robert Says:

“Rural terrorist types”? I think I’m insulted!

  13. Linoge Says:

Yeah, I gave that idiot a pretty thorough fisking when that letter first came out… I love it when people who have no idea what they are talking about spout off about it and prove their ignorance to the world.

Of course, I also love it when people impersonate me (suffice to say, the comment Yosemite Sam quoted was not from me, though I do know, full well, who wrote it).

  14. Kirk Parker Says:

Our legislators should … stand up for the police and all innocent victims murdered with these weapons

Well, that won’t keep them very busy, will it?

  15. Lyle Says:

“Our legislators should avoid lobbyists of these gun profiteers and stand up for the police and all innocent victims murdered with these weapons”… by violating the rights of everyone and creating a monopoly of force for the criminals.

  16. B Smith Says:

I wonder (but not too much) what this guy thinks about the stores of ammunition people keep, even for their semi-auto and bolt-action rifles? Is there truly a sporting use for a few thousand 7.62×39 or .223s?

Canthros: You might be amazed at how many people in this city think precisely that. Depressing.

ATLien: the MAIN feature, I’d say.

  17. Mark Says:

“…superior firepower over the police and army….”? What is wrong with THAT? That is what the founding fathers wanted, and expected, and that is what we need.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
