ACLU and the teacher with a gun
Last week, I noted a teacher was suspended from her day job because her facebook page had an image of her holding a gun. Now, the ACLU has taken up the case:
The ACLU of Wisconsin is defending a Beaver Dam teacher who was put on administrative leave after she posted a questionable photo on her Facebook page.
From the ACLU of Wisconsin:
ACLU of Wisconsin: School should allow teacher to pose with rifle on Facebook
A Beaver Dam Middle School teacher, Betsy Ramsdale, should not have been put on administrative leave simply because of a photo on Facebook showing her training a rifle at the camera. While school safety is of paramount importance, public school teachers do not lose their right to free expression when they are not working.
The context of the photo, the whole Facebook page, is important to understand before taking action against a teacher, who happens to be a gun enthusiast.
Well, that’s likely the problem right there. Can’t have gun enthusiasts educating people.
Good for the ACLU.

In sports, it’s called a “make up call.”
Looks like the ACLU is throwing us a bone after their disgraceful stance on Heller.
An ACLU accountant must have went through those 1200+ comments on the ACLU blog and done a lost revenue calculation from all the people saying they wouldn’t contribute anymore.

Some of the local ACLU’s can be counted on to help with gun rights issues. Unfortunately, at the national level, the ACLU organization has just the opposite view.

Yeah, good for the local chapter.
I’ve read that at the national level, they specifically do not defend 2A rights.

In Texas, the Texas State Rifle Association lobby gets a little help from the ACLU every now and then. The locals need to kick the butt of the national and start defending human rights!

Markie Marxist sez: “That’s outrageous! The American Communist Liberties Union is only supposed to defend liberties that support communism! Private gun ownership is definitely not one of those liberties! What are they thinking! They are definitely going to the gulag in the first purge!”

I’m going with the ACLU Accountant Theory of Lost Revenue…

Remember, they’re not defending this on 2A grounds, but on 1A grounds.

How did I know that the comments would be filled with ACLU-bashing?

Hard to tell from the lousy picture, but isn’t that a shotgun?

Teacher charged with gun possession at school

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a teacher at a Gainesville high school has been arrested for having two loaded guns on school property.
An Alachua County deputy was sent to Eastside High School Friday morning to pick up 43-year-old Mark Stockdale and take him to the Gainesville Police Department for questioning about another incident.
While patting Stockdale down, the deputy reported finding a loaded Derringer in Stockdale’s pocket. Deputies then searched Stockdale’s car, which was parked in the teacher lot, and found a loaded .44 caliber revolver.
Stockdale was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm on school property. He was being held without bail awaiting a hearing scheduled for Tuesday morning.

It was my understanding that visitors to Gainesville’s Eastside High School were checked for weapons on entry, and unarmed individuals were issued a weapon at the door!
