Gun Sales
Everyone is telling me that February gun sales are through the roof. NSSF confirms:
Despite an ever-worsening economy and slumping retail sales, firearm sales increased in February, continuing an upswing that began after November’s election.
Data from the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) show background checks on the sale of firearms jumped 23.3 percent in February when compared to February 2008. The increase follows a 28 percent rise in January, a 24 percent rise in December and a 42 percent jump in November, when a record 1,529,635 background checks were performed.
Also, Brent Mattis writes: What Stimulated the Gun and Ammo Market?
He notes the booming segments of the gun market:
1. Semi-automatic handguns and accessories (magazines mostly)
2. Military-pattern semi-automatic rifles (AR-15’s, AK-clones, etc.) and accessories (magazines and parts)
3. Ammunition and ammunition components
People aren’t buying duck guns.

I can shoot duck with my 590A1! And if I’m really desperate, I can mount a bayonet to it and skewer the duck. š

Well, my most recent purchase was a shottie.
But it’s not a duck gun, because it’s a 1950’s-era Ithaca Featherweight shotgun, and it won’t handle the steel shot necessary to hunt ducks.
Great for hunting clay disks and rabbits, though.

I am confused…
I thought gun and ammo purchases was what a tax refund check was supposed to go to?
