I don’t get it?
So, Ohio’s CCW law will be vetoed because the Governor wants the list of permit holders to be public information. So, let’s give crooks a list of people who have guns so they can break into their homes?
Actually, I doubt that would happen but what motivation is there for having this information public?

No doubt so the anti-gun folks can pester permit holders (picket their homes, get their HOA’s to fine them, etc.) until no one actually takes advantage of the CCW law to avoid being hassled.

Interesting point. Or i can see the media publishing lists.

Would the 4th amendment have any sway in this?

Aren’t you assuming you still have amendment rights. After the recent SC ruling, the 1st amendment is toast. Give em a little time to review a few more of the world’s laws for guidance and the rest will follow suit.

Actually, it’s very important from a 2nd Amendment standpoint that this information be public. I don’t know much about the Ohio case, but in my case in California (which you linked to), I’m able to request this information from the police and use it to (possibly demonstrate) discriminatory issuing practices.

Excellent point Michael. But if they law was passed as shall issue (which in OH it would be) then requesting the info would be moot if you want to investigate discriminatory practices. Because there would be none.
