OK One More Before Next Year
I lied. I haven’t picked up the book I’ve been reading (Stranger in a Strange Land, if you must know) since December 20. Why? Because that’s when I got TiVo. It truly is a great invention but I guess I’ll have to resolve to not let TiVo interfere with my reading.
Ok, Happy New Year. I mean it this time.

It’s OK. After years of never owning a VCR, and owning a small, old television I finally sprung for a nice 20″ color TV and a nice receiver and DVD player. Now, I watch a whole lot more movies than I ever watched of television! Expensive timewaster and a bad excuse to stay in instead of going out or doing anything good. So, I understand.

I saw a commercial yesterday from Comcast saying “Comcast DVR is coming…” I was going to go out and buy a TIVO this weekend but may hold off and see what Comcast has to offer. If they can integrate it into their digital cable box (I assume they will) its one less thing to clutter up my entertainment center (cable box/dvd-home theater/x-box)…

Tivo rocks, eh? And so does Stranger in a Strange Land. It’s one books that actually changed my thinking about some things. Of course, this was in the early 70s and I was probably stoned. But I was grokking it, dude.
(AB, I heard something about Charter getting a DVR, too, but when I called they said they didn’t know when or even if we’d get it here in Blount Co.)
