Oops! False Alarm
The AP:
Tests by Danish and American experts indicate there is no chemical warfare agent in mortar shells unearthed last week in southern Iraq, but more testing is needed to confirm the findings, the Danish military reported Wednesday.
I blogged the initial report here. It seems I (and the Danish and American experts) jumped the gun. Now it really makes me wonder what sorts of experts we have checking out all these weapons.

This is becoming a familiar cycle. Why don’t they do their testing and confirming before feeding mere speculation to the media? That’s pretty pathetic.

I don’t think it’s a problem with the experts, I think its a problem with the media and people’s expectations. The personel on the ground did what they were supposed to do..they found some suspicious stuff, handed it over to some experts and initial tests found no chemical warfare agents.
