Score! The Uncle household recently obtained the School House Rocks video. Only problem, it’s on VHS. To my knowledge, it’s not available on DVD.
Conjunction Junction, what’s your function?

That’s some good Gen X fun. I scored four episodes of Land of the Lost at Christmas. I didn’t realize that Enoch (the sleastac with the red tunic) was a time traveler.
Does anyone remember the animated commercials that were supposed to teach the metric system? One of the songs was “I’m Your Liter Leader”:
“Oh I’m your liter leader,
Now tell me what you think,
How much water would you have to drink
Before you start to sink?”
As I recall the character who taught kilograms was female, and looked like a pudgy Wonder Woman.

FYI – Land of the Last will be released this year on DVD (all three seasons), plus all 15-odd episodes of HR Pufnstuf will be out this month on DVD.

Oh, also my son watches the new ZOOM on PBS and learned the old trick about how to make freezer pops by pouring orange juice and lemonade in the ice cube trays and poking in the toothpicks.
He and I were eating some the other day and I started singing the “Time for Timer” song:
“….carefully poke the toothpicks through the plastic. And in a few hours, Presto! Stacks of snacks!
Don’t wait until it rains until you try this nifty trick,
You’ll have a fun time, making sunshine on a stick!”
He just sort of looked at me…

Then you must have School House Rock! Rocks in your CD collection. Conjunction Junction by Better Than Ezra, Three Is A Magic Number by Blind Melon, Energy Blues by The Diabolical Biz Markie, and Tale of Mr. Morton by Skee-Lo are the best tracks.

Points to Barry for obscurity. Was that the same cartoon character who sang…
“I hanker for a hunk of
A slab or slice or chunk of,
I hanker for a hunk of cheese,
Waaaaahooooo!!!”
Does anyone remember Yuck Mouth, who reminded little kids why we should brush our teeth?
“They call me Yuck Mouth,
‘Cause I don’t brush,
Oh I like my teeth like this,
They call me Yuck Mouth,
‘Cause I don’t brush,
Hey, how ’bout a little kiss?
I got some fish in my teeth,
Got some chicken, too
Ow! That’s a cavity,
Hey, that one’s new!
If you don’t brush,
Then you, too,
Can be a Yuck Mouth”

I haven’t thought of some of these in years! Remeber Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, or Dr. Shrinker?
Dr. Shrinker
Dr. Shrinker
He’s a madman with an evil mind
Dr. Shrinkerrrrr….

Now I’m trying to remember the lyrics to the “Big John, Little John” theme. That was the show where a chemistry teacher creates a formula that lets him become a kid again, but he can’t control when the change happens. When he was about to become little John, he’d go into a supply closet and come out pretending to be his own son.

Thanks, Richard! That’s a great site. I need to do some digging there.
Boy, that theme song for “Big John, Little John” takes me back. It sounds like something SNL would parody. 🙂

Does anyone rememeber the physics professor on PBS that did experiments? He was a strange semi-tubby man with bushy eyebrows and a slight British-like accent. He said “look at!”, “watch it!”, and “observe!” all the time. A number of his experiments didn’t work on the first try. Does anyone rememeber this guy? If so, what was his name?

Did You Grow up in the ’70s?
SayUncle bought a collection of Schoolhouse Rock cartoons, and now all of use Gen Xers are over there reminiscing. Come join the fun. Bonus points if you remember the Land of the Lost theme song. “Marshal, Will and Holly, On…
