Same question for you that I posed to him…how many Black GOP representatives are there in Congress or the Senate?
It’s quite legitimate to criticize the Democrats for tokenism, but make sure the other side is at least as good or better than what you’re criticizing them for.

But most people don’t refer to Republicans as the party of racial harmony.

I think the Republicans don’t get credit for it even when they have a small platform on which to stand. After all, Colin and Condi were the first American Blacks in their respective positions…which doesn’t get nearly the exposure it would had a Democrat appointed them.

The problem is, I didn’t criticize them for tokenism, so I still do not understand what the GOP has to do with this. Nor does it have to do with members of the House because those are not statewide races.
I made the point that they (well the leadership really) have chosed political expediency (ie, winning) over extending the opportunity for Blacks to run for Senate seats, and the Vice Presidency.
I am not a member of the GOP, so I don’t have to check ‘my side’ in order to make such an observation.
