Score! New Toy
I got a reflex holographic scope for my AR15 on Ebay. It’s the thing on top of the carrying handle for you non-gun types.
Pretty neat! Allows target acquisition at greater ranges, while allowing the shooter to keep both eyes open. It also is about the best platform to quickly acquire targets. Put red dot on the target (in my case, that will be little pieces of paper) and shoot. The laser is projected onto a lense so only the shooter sees the laser.

I’ve considered such a device myself, but I’m reluctant to place my continued accuracy in the hands of those supplying my batteries. I’d be interested in discovering, after you have some experience with it – and , if other sayuncle readers also have experience with electronic sights – regarding battery life, availability of same, what manifestations of battery degradation does the sight display, etc. Maybe someone could do a roundup of e-sights, their batteries, battery life, etc. I might be worrying about nothing here, and I’d like to learn more.

I actually fired a single-round .223 pistol equipped with one of these (or something similar, I recall mine being a bit bigger, although maybe that was just in comparison to the smaller firearm) on my honeymoon. It was by far and away the most fun-to-shoot weapon I’ve ever set my hands on (although that admittedly hasn’t been many — a couple of .22’s, a couple of 9mms, a .45, a .44 magnum, a .357 magnum, and the .223 — oh, and a 20-gauge shotgun). The scope makes shooting mighty accurate, even for an unsteady-handed guy like me.
