This got me to wondering whether or not Haiti actually had gun control laws. Turns out, it’s in their constitution:
ARTICLE 268-1: Every citizen has the right to armed self defense, within the bounds of this domicile, but has no right to bear arms without express well-founded authorization from the Chief of Police.
Well, we have amendment 2 and there’s still gun control here. Same is the case in Haiti. Seems there was some sort of confiscation as recently as 1999.

Haiti continues to fall apart. The United States is ultimately responsible – we reinstalled Aristide ten years ago. It looks like we will finally have to correct that mistake.

Boy, it’s hard to google up haiti’s legal code but from what i gather there is quite a bit of gun control and the illegal arms market is huge.
