I like it
Some claim that letting the ban on some semiautomatic weapons expire will cause a surge of police killings and a rise in gun crimes. But in fact, letting the law expire will show the uselessness of gun-control regulations. A year from now, it will be obvious to everyone that all the horror stories about banning what have been labeled “assault weapons” were wrong.
I’m not a huge fan of Lott because of some questionable antics in his research but this quote is accurate.

Let’s hope he’s right. However, the pessimist in me says that the other side will keep on lying, and the press will keep on printing the lies.
I mean, just look at how Ted Kennedy ranted during the S.1805 debate. Why, if he had his way, my dad’s old lever-action .30-30 would be considered a sniper-rifle assault-weapon that shoots cop-killer bullets.
My prediction: IF the ban sunsets, expect nearly EVERY gun death to be blamed on “assault weapons.” And the ones that aren’t will be blamed on a lack of child-safety devices.
