Glocks Exploding?
Portland police are recalling the Glock 21 45ACP service pistols because they have had two of them explode. My thought initially was that they loaded ammo not suited to the gun (like 45 +P) and that’s not a good combo. Apparently, the police say that it’s not the ammo. Glock is offering 9MM pistols as a no cost replacement.
I don’t know what to think of this one. Seems we may be missing some info as I don’t know of Glocks exploding for no reason.

There have been instances of that going back for years, though usually with higher-pressure ammo than .45 (which is a relatively low-pressure round). The Glocks have an unsupported chamber and a different rifling system.

From what I understand, that unsupported chamber design has caused serious problems with the .40 caliber pistols, and I would imagine that a +P .45 round might too.

Easy enough,Cops were shooting lead,Lead build up in the shallow rifleing+unsuported chamber Kaboom.
dont shoot lead in Glocks unless you change the barrel.
Better still pull your head out of your butt and learn about the tools that you have to use to do your job.

If you want a bit more detail about the “exploding Glock” issue, feel free to look over my post on the subject at formerflyer.blogspot.com. In brief, it’s just as airboss said. Happens all the time with Glocks in any caliber that starts with a .4.
I disagree about needing two barrels to shoot lead, but that’s certianly one good way to solve the problem. Read my post for more.
