Took a bit longer than I thought

The anti-gunners have started on the Tennessee standoff. In their press release, they admit that the SKS is not an assault weapon, yet then say it is. They also repeat the lie that one in five policeman killed are killed with assault weapons.

One Response to “Took a bit longer than I thought”

  1. Thibodeaux Says:

Actually, 1 in 5 policemen ARE killed by “assault weapons,” if you define “assault weapon” to be “a rifle that has killed a policeman.”

Take a look some time at the VPC’s list of “assault weapons” that have killed policemen. You’ll see (among others) the SKS, the M1 Carbine, and the Mini-14. In their standard configuration, none of these have the Evil Pistol Grip.

This bit in the article is especially infuriating:

After the shooting, Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider was quick to point out how grave the threat of assault weapons is to his officers. He noted that even if the Deputy had been wearing a bulletproof vest, “it would not have stopped the high-powered cartridges” from killing him.

I wonder what these people would consider a low-powered cartridge?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
