I thought gambling was illegal in Tennessee?
Yet, WATE writes:
Gov. Phil Bredesen has a slab of ribs riding on Tuesday night’s national championship between the Lady Vols and the University of Connecticut.
Bredesen and Connecticut Gov. John Rowland struck a bet Tuesday.
If UT loses the game, Bredesen will send Rowland barbecue ribs from the Rendezvous in Memphis.
If Connecticut loses, Bredesen will get a clambake dinner.

Not reported is the fact that had CT lost, the clambake would have been paid for by a state contractor as an “in kind” donation to Gov. Rowland’s legal defense fund.

Oh come on; you know the rules don’t apply to government officials. It’s professional courtesy.

Didn’t TN just amend the constitution to allow gambling? Isn’t that why we have a lottery now?
Anyway, as an adoptive Memphian, I can tell you that Rowland didn’t win anything: Rendezvous ribs suck.
