Poker Night
Tonight I’m headed over to a buddy’s house for some poker—probably Texas Hold ‘Em. Anybody got any pointers? I mean, besides “double-down on 11.” I already know that one.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

Play tight, and play premium hands. Mix up your betting styles and never show your cards unless you have to. If you buy one for the hell of it, and you have nothing, show it once. Then you’ll get called the next time you try to buy a hand. If you live in Tennessee (I know Uncle does), I would invite you to my game, if you’re willing to drive to Chattanooga. I could go on, and on if you want. But play premium hands (A,K; AJ) and you can also play suited connectors above 9. Otherwise, I would only recomment betting pocket pairs below that. Always see a flop if it’s cheap. You never know when your 2,3 off suite will boat up.

If you’re going to “double down on 11” in Texas Hold-em, you need a lot more help than just pointers.

I swear, some people have no sense of humor. 😉
Anyway, it was small stakes, and there were a couple of complete poker newbies that didn’t even know to double-down on 11, so it was all good.
