Why is this a controversy?
Apparently, some one is upset that the NRA’s Eddie Eagle is in Pittsburgh-area schools this week to teach children about gun safety. Even anti-gun nuts should realize that teaching children firearm safety is a good thing.

In other news, members of the Teachers’ Union voted 75 to 1 to implement a strict ban on any mention of water, H20 or other variants anywhere on school grounds, citing the number of teen and child drowning deaths.
Said a spokeswoman: “We’re confident that if we remain silent about the dangers facing our kids; if we pretend they’re not there, our kids will be safe. Its for the children.”

It’s all in the presentation. See the mistake is that they call it gun safety. They should say they are going into the schools to teach a class on : the safe handling of a variety of rigid, stiff, life changing weapons and the proper way to keep those weapons dry and safe guarded from the ill effects of moisture.
The class will also include examples of the proper use of oils and cleansing agents to maintain your weapon in tip top shape to enhance the experience of discharging the weapon. During this hands on experience you will also be shown how to handle and store a weapon safely.
As a bonus you will be taught to keep your hands off other peoples weapons unless you have their expressed permission and then it should be handled with the utmost care as it may be loaded. Improper handling of a loaded weapon could have unintended life changing consequences if the weapon should happen to discharge in an unsafe manner. Presented this way the teachers union would demand it be provided in every school in America because it’s for the children.
