The Video
I have not (nor will I) watch the Nick Berg beheading video. Why? Because it would likely enrage me the way the images of those poor souls jumping to their deaths from the WTC on 9/11 did. Some argue that maybe people need to be enraged. That we’ve forgotten. That is a valid point, I suppose, but I still have no desire to see it.
It seems like some bloggers are questioning the video’s authenticity. It seems that it doesn’t look realistic (i.e., lack of movement, the audio/video don’t sync, and lack of blood from the jugular). I have no opinion as I haven’t seen it. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to me. I recall people alleging similar issues about the Daniel Pearl video.
Instapundit tells us that Nick Berg is the story people want to hear but the media hasn’t followed suit. I have no doubt people want to see it. I just hope it’s because they want to see it with their own eyes as a reminder and not to satisfy some morbid curiosity.
My sympathies to the Berg family.

Other than the fact that Berg’s body was found beheaded, I could seen an argument questioning the video’s authenticity. However, they do have his body, and I’ve never seen a beheading before, and I doubt any of the naysayers have either, so there’s nothing for me to compare it to. It’s real.

It makes you wonder, though, doesn’t it?
Just how many of the doubters have ever SEEN an actual beheading?
I.E., how in the pluperfect hell would these jokers have any way of knowing whether it was real or not?

I watched it. The thing that clinches it for me is the surprise and fear you hear from Berg that instant he realizes what is happening. There was plenty of blood, you just had to look to see it in the grainy tape.
It made me very cold. The way the others kneeled on Berg’s limbs to hold him down while shouting “Allahu Akbar” loud enough to nearly drown out Berg’s screams was the worst part for me. It took nearly a minute of sawing to get the poor kid’s head off…
You should watch it. Everyone should watch it so they know who we are fighting. Oh, and a headless body showing up over the weekend sort of makes a charge of fakery a bit moot, does it not?

don’t think they are saying it was faked in that he wasn’t killed. think they were saying he may have been dead before the video was taken.
