So, how’s that lottery working out for ya?
Heard on the radio this morning that the University of Tennessee was going to raise tuition by 9%. So, why aren’t the lottery funds for education taking care of that? Plus, the state has a revenue surplus. Yet, tuition goes up. So much for priorities.

Presumably the state’s contribution went up 9%, too.
With more kids attending state schools because of the lottery, presumably tuition will rise*. Supply and demand.
* Meaning, rise even more. Has there ever been a semester when UT’s tuition didn’t go up? When I was a freshman in 1986, tuition was $250 a quarter (the equivalent of $375 a semester). The tuition isn’t just going up. It’s outpacing inflation by a lot.
