Email bloatware
Today, Yahoo tells me that it’s upping my email storage amount from 4MB to 100MB. Cool, say I. However, this storage space (which I never use, as I keep my email folders empty for the most part) has caused some reliability issues. Check mail, and I get a Cannot find server error about half the time.

I haven’t had any problems with Yahoo mail today. However, I was reading somewhere that Yahoo’s web host took a hit, so maybe that’s related.

Hmmm…and I thought it was just me. I’m excited about the extra space, though! They’ll probably have it running as normal soon (I hope)

Yahoo uses Akami’s servers, which have been wounded all day. Apparently they were attacked. Check the front page of washingtonpost.com for more info. I didn’t read the article, but I’m told it has the relevant info.
So never fear, your Yahoo service will soon be running like usual. 🙂

From article
“The attack targeted Internet servers run by Cambridge, Mass.-based Akamai Technologies, which distributes and manages Web data for companies such as Microsoft Corp., Google, Yahoo Inc., Federal Express and Xerox Corp. It also handles traffic for the FBI and washingtonpost.com. ”
Good. I thought I had a highjack issue because it also keep you from using searchengines, and maybe thought yahoo mail was yahoo search.
I can get Google now, but Yahoo is still horrible

Yahoo mail was still running a bit slow this morning. Not sure if the Akamai thing took a hit on their mail servers. While the news/search was running fine yesterday, the new mail was still slow and connections were being dropped. Comcast changed over to a new webmail client recently and had similar issues for a few days. They turned it on and off over the course a few weeks til they got it right.

Mine’s still slow today, too. Hope they get it corrected soon…I’m not liking the lag 🙁
