Justifiable Shooting

Even though I am a pro-gun absolutist, just as I don’t think cops should shoot people in the back when they are fleeing; I also don’t think homeowners should shoot intruders who are fleeing.

I don’t think that private citizens should shoot them as they are fleeing, but I sure don’t support making it illegal. It is the same way that I don’t think people should drink alcohol to excess, but I don’t want to make it illegal.

  2. Les Jones Says:

The guy who got shot had kicked down the homeowner’s door. That’s pretty damned aggressive behavior right there. Put in that situation, I can see how the homeowner’s instinct was to kill the guy even after he fled the house.

  3. The Baculum King Says:

I’m with Les. The homeowner should be entitled to automatically assume anybody who kicks down their door and runs is going for a weapon.

    For up to 30 minutes.

Besides, he got him in the chest, so at least he saw it coming.

    I Need My Head Examined
Wow, a gun question on which I stand to the right of Say Uncle. Good thing my health care plan covers therapy. Say Uncle believes that it’s wrong for homeowners to shoot fleeing intruders. I think it’s more complicated than that. Standard doctrine says…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
