Question for those child development people
Those child development people tell me, at this stage in her life (3 weeks), that my daughter has spent her time learning the features of the caregivers (i.e., she’s looking at us and has a grasp of what me and her mom look like). Why, then, does she try to suckle the couch?

Dear, dear friend–
You’re in for a looooong ride. She does this to raise YOUR blood pressure. This is a trait that daughters are apparently born with, and you’ve got decades more of it to look forward to.
Enjoy this phase she’s in now, because it it relatively benign. Wait’ll she’s a teen…
