The Speaker of the House will push for replacing the nation’s current tax system with a national sales tax or a value added tax, Hill sources tell DRUDGE.

Any proposed legislation for a national excise (sales) tax had better include an amendment to repeal the XVIth Amendment, otherwise the income tax will come back sooner or later.

Don’t know about the Bush 2nd term agenda angle, but Hastert was on FNC tonight touting his book and he talked some about it. It was great, he was so Midwest matter-of-fact about the whole thing.
