Here’s a mystery: A day has passed since this Supreme Court decision that went against gunowners, and NO anti-gunowner group has issued a press release to crow about it!
What’s going on?
The explanation: This news story is a double-edged sword.
While anti-gunowner groups are no doubt pleased by the go-ahead to ban gun shows, the most immediate item on their agenda is background checks to “close the gun show loophole.” To do this, they have spread the deceit that they ONLY want background checks at gun shows, not gun show BANS.
California however ALREADY HAS background checks to “close the gun show loophole,” and has (with the quiet and sometimes not-so-quiet support of anti-gunowner groups) moved on to the next phase: gun show BANS.
If anti-gunowner groups were to make their usual fuss over this Supreme Court decision, it would serve to call attention to their desire for gun show BANS, at a time when it is still important that they continue the deceit that they ONLY want background checks to “close the gun show loophole.”
