actually some states require 5 round mags for hunting, so a 5 rounder wouldn’t e a NYC only proposition
Also if you use your 10/22 as an understudy for a centerfire rifle you use in competition, then the 5 rounder makes sense cause you’d have to do a mag change in a 10 round string of fire 9well, for certain events).
But I’d assume that the hunting thing is the reason for the 5 rounders.
As strange as it sounds, that picture reminded me of my first (blind) date with my wife of 32 years….
I was in the Navy, had no money, and took her out that evening to the end of the Navy ammo pier that juts 3 miles into New York Harbor. We picnic’d, drank beer, shot seagulls with a .22, looked at the NYC skyline, and watched the ships go by. She thought I was a nutcase, I thought she was wonderful.

Apparently there are enough 10/22s in NYC for Ruger to make a 5-round magazine for NYC 10/22 owners.

Is there anyplace other than NYC that requires a @#$%! 5-round magazine for 10/22s?
