Why am I in a hand-basket? (follow up)
In an update to the arrest of Jason, a reader who has been in contact with the Spokane County Sheriff’s department informs me that the department has no idea what he’s talking about.

That’s a problem with blogs. You just don’t know, often, who’s on the other end. I’d like to say this guy is genuine. Well, Thursday’s coming.

Its also possible (I would say likely) that just because the Sheriff department is officially unaware of anything occurring, doesn’t mean it didn’t occur.
On a basic level, it takes time for reports to be filed and computer files to be updated. On a more particular level, just because Jason thinks this is a big deal doesn’t mean anyone in a very large police department gives two hoots about it. If the only publicity is that which has been generated by a small blogger who may or may not have an attorney and has not filed any claim with the sheriff’s department, why would they know. In fact, I’d be more surprised if they were aware of what happened.

I don’t know if I’d discount the theory that they’re trying to sweep this incident under the rug.
You know, a “if there’s no report, it didn’t happen” kind of thing…

I should be clear that the tone of the email i received didn’t deny anything. It merely stated that the sheriff rep didn’t know which incident the reader was referring to.
