“Only one homicide has been reported this year in Arlington County, compared to three for all of 2003. Neighboring Alexandria City has seen two homicides this year, compared to four last year.”
Not to further flog the beaten dead horse, but would that be Arlington County in gun-friendly Virginia? Funny how the article fails to highlight that aspect of the story.
Good point. I dunno. It may be if you exclude wars, genocides and such. America has a higher murder rate compared to other western nations but has a lower violent crime rate. We’ve always been a murderous lot.
There are other differences between Arlington and DC besides gun laws, Bruce, that probably have a lot more to do with the difference in murder rates: % below poverty, % with drug habits, % unemployed. Unless owning a gun magically gets you a job and/or off drugs, that is.

Is DC really the murder capital of the world? That would shock me. Of the country, I could see…
